About The Position

The Drop Off Attendant serves at the City’s recycling and yard waste drop-off point and verifies city residency for users when required. The position is part-time with limited benefits. Current hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM during April–June and October–December, and from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM during the rest of the year. Hours may change due to weather, holidays, and other factors.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Must be able to work day hours.
Must be able to stand and walk continuously for 6–8 hours per day, 3 days per week.
Must be able to bend, squat, and twist to lift 51–100 pounds occasionally and 20–50 pounds continuously.
Must have no limitations that impair performing the position’s responsibilities with either hand.
Must have no impairments resulting from continuous exposure to solid-waste or yard-waste odors.
Must be able to work outdoors in all environmental conditions, including extreme heat, rain, snow, humidity, and extreme cold.
Must have no limitations on seat belt use.
Knowledge of department operating procedures and city recycling and solid-waste rules, policies, and ordinances.
Good public-relations skills, sound judgment, and ability to work unsupervised.
Ability to write legibly for data collection and completion of reports.
Knowledge of refuse truck operation.
Knowledge of proper safety procedures.
