About The Position

The Driver's Assistant supports truck drivers with logistics. The role includes assisting with trailer loading and unloading, securing loads before movement, cleaning and washing trucks, and reporting truck or equipment maintenance issues to a supervisor. The assistant must comply with Department of Transportation safety rules and regulations, company policies, and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to read and write legibly.
• Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
• Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic math functions and skills.
• Follow Department of Transportation, state, and federal laws, and company safety policies and programs.
• Work outdoors daily, including in inclement weather.
• Sit and climb in and out of a truck cab throughout the shift.
• Lift up to 75 pounds.
• Work around raw, live animal odors.
• Work in a noisy environment exceeding 85 decibels and around moving equipment.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and long shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with loading and unloading trailers as necessary.
• Ensure loads are secure before movement.
• Clean and wash trucks as necessary.
• Report truck and equipment maintenance issues to a supervisor.
• Comply with DOT safety rules and regulations, company policies, and applicable local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
