About The Position

To provide for the routine operation and minor maintenance of university vehicles in the transportation of materials or passengers. The role includes transporting patients and other assigned passengers on and off campus, delivering or retrieving materials, and assisting with loading and unloading. The driver maintains trip and vehicle logs, routinely inspects the assigned vehicle, and reports necessary adjustments or repairs to supervisors. The position involves lifting and moving heavy objects and driving in adverse weather and emergency situations. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends and holidays. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related experience.
• Complete a defensive driver course within 30 days of hire.
• Current Texas Class “C” driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

• Previous healthcare or hospital courier experience.

Responsibilities

• Transfer patients and other assigned passengers on and/or off campus, assisting them in entering and exiting the vehicle.
• Deliver and/or retrieve materials as instructed.
• Assist in loading and unloading materials from the vehicle.
• Maintain a daily log of mileage, number of trips, passengers or cargo, destination, and fuel and oil consumption.
• Regularly inspect the assigned vehicle for oil, fuel, tires, and water.
• Report needed vehicle adjustments or repairs to supervisors.
• Adhere to internal controls established for the department.
• Perform related duties as required.
