About The Position

Gerdau is seeking a local lugger and roll off AZ Licensed Truck Driver for the Guelph area. This full-time permanent position involves regional travel within the area, with drivers reporting to the facility at the beginning of each shift and returning home every night. The Driver is responsible for servicing accounts safely, courteously, and in a timely manner, including delivering and picking up containers to and from designated locations.

Requirements

  • Must possess a clean driving record.
  • Must possess a CLEAN CVOR Abstract and Driver Abstract.
  • Required to possess a full AZ license.
  • MUST be able to drive manual 18 speed efficiently.
  • Must be able to work up to 60+ hrs. week.
  • Must be a trustworthy, self-starter.
  • Ability to commute/relocate to Guelph, ON - reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required).

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred but not necessary.
  • A minimum of 1 year driving experience is preferred.
  • Lugger and roll off truck experience for commercial trucks up to GVWR 63,500 KG is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in scrap metal haulage useful but not necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Completing a pre and post inspection of the vehicle each day before operating.
  • Documenting all inspections to ensure equipment is maintained and in proper working order.
  • Reporting any and all safety and environmental issues immediately to the supervisor.
  • Sitting, standing, reaching, bending, and working in a variety of environments, both internal and external in all types of weather conditions.
  • Performing minor truck maintenance (adding oils, fueling).
  • Checking containers for damage before delivery and pick-up, and reporting all unsafe items to supervisor immediately.
  • Checking the loads for hazardous or liquid materials.
  • Using correct loading and unloading/dumping procedures.
  • Cleaning all debris off of truck bed.
  • Ensuring the truck is maintained to meet 5S Standard.
  • Cleaning up any spillage before setting container down.
  • Ensuring all product is correctly accounted for on daily paperwork.
  • Ensuring containers are accounted for on daily paperwork.
  • Attending all meetings required by the Division manager/supervisor.
  • Following all plant and company safety guidelines in the performance of all job duties and responsibilities.
