About The Position

Skills Inc. is seeking an experienced Driver to join their team. The role involves driving a light delivery truck (under 26,000 GVW) for the pick-up and delivery of aircraft parts and other related materials. Skills Inc. is a nonprofit organization with a social mission to train, employ, and serve persons with disabilities and their community, and is one of Washington State's largest aerospace suppliers.

Requirements

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English through verbal communication, American Sign Language, or adaptive technology
Must be a "U.S. person" as defined by ITAR regulations (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or admitted as a refugee or asylee).
Constant sitting while driving.
Constant use of legs and arms to operate a vehicle.
Frequent climbing in and out of trucks and other vehicles.
Frequent lifting and moving up to 25lbs.
Occasional exposure to chemicals, odors, and fumes.
Occasional lifting and moving up to 40lbs.
Occasional standing and walking.

Nice To Haves

Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
Ability to operate a forklift or be willing to be trained and become certified.
Ability to communicate information clearly and directly to customers, co-workers, and supervisory personnel both verbally and in writing.
Ability to utilize interpersonal and communication techniques, working in a team environment, and dealing with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles.
Skill in prioritizing and managing a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to take direction from lead and supervisor to complete assigned tasks.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior customer service experience.
Prior delivery driving experience.

Responsibilities

Verify load against shipping papers.
Drive truck to outside customer locations and deliver/pick up customer orders and supplies.
Inspect truck equipment and vital fluids daily, keeping all filled to manufacturer’s recommendations, and fill out daily and weekly preventative maintenance logs.
Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
Load and unload trucks in a manner to ensure all parts and supplies are protected against damage.
Sign all paperwork relevant to the work picked up.
Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with Skills Inc. employees and customers’ representatives.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
