About The Position

The Driver provides safe, reliable, and courteous transportation for residents of a senior living community, helping them maintain independence and quality of life. Trips may include medical appointments, shopping, recreational outings, community events, and scheduled mealtime transportation. The Driver also transports employees when specified and assists passengers with boarding, exiting, packages, and wheelchair lifts as needed. The role includes maintaining trip logs, reporting and documenting incidents, conducting vehicle checks, keeping vehicles clean and safe, monitoring vehicle operation, refueling, and reporting maintenance issues. The Driver is expected to represent Ingleside professionally, protect resident confidentiality, follow organizational and regulatory safety requirements, participate in assigned professional development, maintain necessary certifications, and uphold the ARISE values of Accountability, Respect, Innovation, Stewardship, and Excellence.

Requirements

Maintain all certifications necessary for employment.
Comply with applicable organizational safety policies and procedures and government regulations.
Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and other regulations applicable to the job.
Demonstrate professional conduct, courteous communication, discretion, flexibility, and the ability to follow directions.

Responsibilities

Transport residents and other employees safely and efficiently to specified locations while complying with traffic regulations.
Assist passengers with boarding and exiting, packages, and wheelchair lifts as needed.
Report incidents and accidents to the Driver Coordinator and other specified parties, and complete required written documentation.
Adjust vehicle temperature and lighting for passenger comfort.
Use main interstates and highways when driving to specified locations.
Maintain accurate trip logs of fuel and mileage used per trip.
Chaperone passengers during trips when requested.
Pick up and drop off residents for mealtimes according to the assigned schedule.
Keep the vehicle clean and safe, and straighten it after each trip.
Check vehicle lights, signals, wipers, and other operating features; conduct a visual vehicle check before each trip.
Report maintenance issues promptly and assist with taking the vehicle to a repair shop.
Refuel the van or bus when needed or when the tank is one-half full.
Maintain professional conduct and appearance when representing Ingleside.
Protect resident confidentiality and use discretion when discussing confidential matters.
Communicate courteously and tactfully, maintain positive working relationships, and follow appropriate directions and requests.
Perform assignments to meet quality and timeliness objectives; understand and follow applicable policies and procedures.
Participate in assigned in-service activities, projects, or committees and maintain certifications required for employment.
Adapt to changing environments and requirements, pursue relevant learning opportunities, and maintain knowledge of applicable regulations.
Follow established safety rules, organizational policies, procedures, and government regulations.
Report potential safety hazards and injuries involving residents, visitors, or employees promptly.
Assist residents, visitors, or employees during emergencies according to proper emergency procedures.
