About The Position

The Prince George’s County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS) is seeking a full-time Driver to transport and deliver books, library materials, interoffice mail, supplies, and equipment to 19 library locations throughout Prince George’s County and other facilities across the metropolitan area. Drivers operate a box truck, cargo van, or other assigned vehicle for up to eight hours per workday.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two or more years of delivery or truck driving experience.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing, with five or fewer points on the driving record.
• Knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and local routes.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Basic technology skills, including email, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
• Able to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Able to operate vehicles for up to eight hours per day.
• Able to drive safely in all kinds of weather and traffic.

Responsibilities

• Drive library vehicles to deliver books, supplies, and materials.
• Load and unload deliveries safely and efficiently.
• Ensure the security of the vehicle, its contents, and keys.
• Perform routine vehicle checks and coordinate maintenance.
• Sort and distribute mail and materials after delivery.
• Maintain accurate daily records and follow all safety protocols.
• Collect deposits as needed.
• Assist with special projects and train new staff as needed.
