About The Position

MTM Transit is hiring full-time and part-time Drivers in Hilo, Hawaii, to provide safe, reliable, and personalized transportation. Drivers help ensure passengers receive attentive service, including older adults and individuals with disabilities. The role is based at 62 Kinoole St, Hilo, HI 96720. Training classes begin every other week.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Valid Hawaii driver's license held for at least three years.
No more than two moving violations in the past three years.
If the license was revoked, three subsequent years with no violations.
No suspensions or at-fault accidents in the last three years.
No DUI or DWI convictions within the last 10 years.
Ability to pass a DOT physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.
Ability to pass a criminal background investigation and motor vehicle record check.
Valid authorization to work in the United States.
Provide a resume with a minimum of 10 years of work history.
Ability to use a tablet, GPS, two-way radio, or other electronic device.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Ability to communicate with others and comprehend instructions.
Ability to understand highway traffic signs, signals, maps, manifests, and schedules.
Ability to obtain knowledge of FTA, ADA, and DOT regulations.
Familiarity with main roadways and major highways in the service area.

Responsibilities

Provide safe and reliable transportation.
Demonstrate excellent defensive driving skills.
Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Assist passengers with loading and unloading from the vehicle.
Assist with mobility devices and securement as required by safety protocols.
Ensure on-time customer pick-up and drop-off.
Demonstrate understanding and sensitivity to the needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities.
Complete required vehicle pre-trip, post-trip, and DVI inspections.
Complete required paperwork.
Use tablets or other electronic devices as required.
