About The Position

This role involves operating as a Driver/Yard Operator, requiring a CDL. The primary schedule is Sunday-Thursday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with potential variations for vacation coverage. Key responsibilities include moving trailers to and from docks, securing loads, and managing Bill of Lading (BOL) paperwork. The position requires experience in moving 53-foot trailers using a yard truck and maintaining logs of trailer movements. Additional duties include sealing trailers, starting and setting reefer units, checking trucks and drivers in and out, organizing shipping/receiving documents, performing yard checks, and occasionally handling freight manually or with equipment like a forklift or hand truck. The role also involves efficiently sorting, loading, and unloading palletized and non-palletized freight, securing freight within trailers, and using mobile handheld devices for shipment tracking. Safety adherence and company policies are paramount.

Requirements

  • CDL required
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Able to read, write and speak the English language
  • Ability to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator
  • Able to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends as per company needs
  • Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 70 lbs. occasionally)
  • Sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including a pallet jack, forklift and by hand
  • Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
  • Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary
  • Experience moving 53 foot trailers to and from loading docks utilizing a yard truck
