About The Position

The Driver SSBO is responsible for coordinating, tracking, and documenting the movement of parts to and from vendors, as well as transporting parts between departments and plants. This role ensures the accurate and timely movement of parts through the manufacturing process and maintains quality records, invoices, and packing slips to support documentation requirements.

Requirements

  • Current and valid operator’s/driver’s license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years licensed driving experience.
  • At least 21 years of age or older.
  • Minimum of one year driving experience within a 30-mile radius of the plant.
  • Ability to follow written instructions.
  • Ability to organize information and materials, and attend to details.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to organize/manage time and workloads effectively and to work independently.
  • Ability to attend to detail, resolve record keeping problems and work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to interact effectively with others.
  • Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes and other elements for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to drive a truck (up to 26,000 LBS GVW).
  • Works well independently.
  • Significant computer entry required.
  • Training in Materials Resource Planning computerized inventory control systems.
  • Required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous manufacturing floor experience or dispatching experience affording knowledge of the importance of part location tracking.
  • Previous data entry and inventory control experience.
  • Experience in Visibility or an MRP system.
  • Familiarity with GPS devices or map apps.
  • PCC's Fork Lift Driving Safety Certification Training must be completed.
  • Training is provided on the job.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, track, and document the movement of parts to and from vendors.
  • Transport parts from one department, plant, or vendor.
  • Ensure accurate and timely movement of parts through the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain quality records, invoices, and packing slips.
  • Verify and match part lots with paperwork, purchase orders, routing information, serial numbers, and quantities before transporting.
  • Ensure completion of necessary signoffs on work completion and/or routing information before transporting.
  • Reconcile problems regarding paperwork/part inaccuracies with Leads and ensure communication among production departments.
  • Follow routers and move parts by hand, pallet jack, electric jack, forklifts, and hoists.
  • Coordinate loading and unloading of product to and from Division service centers, machine shops, and vendors.
  • Update computerized inventory control systems to reflect locations.
  • Make computer entries to update inventory and location of parts, entering transaction codes on all lot movements.
  • Ensure accurate accounting of part lot numbers upon return from vendors.
  • Dispatch jobs and move parts to the next location.
  • Complete daily cycle counts and lot moves for accurate inventory control.
  • Maintain a neat and organized truck.
  • Clean floors, sweep aisles, and keep aisles free of parts and pallets.
  • Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
  • Safely operate all equipment and tools.
  • Identify and report safety problems.
  • Complete logs and records for trucks.
  • Obtain a medical card.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.
