About The Position

This position operates a variety of molding machines to produce moderately complex wax pattern and gating components of the highest quality. The operator will also inspect, trim, and clean wax parts as required. The role involves preparing tooling dies for operation, including assembly, disassembly, positioning, and changing die inserts. It also includes adding chills and solubles per tech cards and cleaning tooling after operation. The operator will set up, monitor, and control mold machine functions, keeping dies clean during molding operations, removing wax parts from dies, inspecting for defects, and trimming. Additionally, the operator will complete logs and records, document any modifications to the process, and meet all production and quality standards. Safety is a key objective, requiring adherence to plant and department safety rules, safe operation of all equipment and tools, and identification and reporting of safety problems. This role may involve training less skilled operators, performing other directed tasks, and potentially working with hazardous waste.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, interpret and follow specifications on Technique Cards, Process Control Procedures and other special instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
  • Ability to work alone with limited supervision.
  • Written language skills required.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Skill in wax molding operations, as demonstrated by three to six months of competent performance in any wax molding utility, leach tank or core/gate cleaner positions is preferred OR Any equivalent combination of training and work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles, disassembles, prepares and positions tooling dies for operation; changes die inserts as required.
  • Adds chills and solubles per tech cards.
  • Removes and/or cleans tooling after operation.
  • Sets up, monitors, and controls mold machine functions.
  • Keeps dies clean during molding operations.
  • Removes wax parts from die, inspects for defects, and trims.
  • Cleans wax parts as required.
  • Completes logs and records; documents any modifications to process.
  • Meets all production and quality standards.
  • Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
  • Safely operates all equipment and tools.
  • Identifies and reports safety problems.
  • May train less skilled operators as assigned.
  • Performs other tasks as directed.
  • May be required to work with hazardous waste.
