About The Position

The Delivery Driver’s Helper rides in the cab of a delivery truck and loads, unloads, and moves materials and products between the truck and designated loading or delivery areas. Work is performed by hand or with equipment such as a hand truck, forklift, or electric pallet jack, as appropriate. The helper follows work orders or oral instructions, secures loads to prevent shifting or transit damage, arranges products according to an approved plan, and records quantities moved as well as breakage and spoilage. Other duties may be assigned by a supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Ride inside the cab of a delivery truck.
• Load, unload, and move materials and products to or from trucks, pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or with a hand truck, forklift, or electric pallet jack, as appropriate.
• Read work orders or follow oral instructions to identify materials or containers to be moved.
• Load materials into vehicles to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
• Move materials between the truck and designated loading and delivery areas.
• Arrange products according to a prearranged plan or another plan approved by management.
• Count and record the number of units moved or handled, along with breakage and spoilage, on appropriate sheets.
• Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor or another supervisor.
