Driver's Education Teacher
About The Position
The Department of Juvenile Justice is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth and strengthen families and communities across the Commonwealth. DJJ's Division of Education is seeking a qualified Health & Physical Education/Driver Education Teacher to provide high-quality, standards-based instruction that supports the individual learning needs of students and aligns with the Commonwealth's educational standards, statutes, and program certification requirements. The teacher will design and deliver engaging, research-based instruction, foster a safe, respectful, and student-centered learning environment, and use student data to inform instruction, monitor progress, and promote academic success.
Requirements
- Earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and graduated from an approved teacher preparation program in Health and Physical Education; OR Earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and completed a major in Health and Physical Education or 45 semester hours of coursework distributed across specific health and physical education areas.
- Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with endorsements in Health & Physical Education/Driver Education.
Nice To Haves
- Experience as a Health & Physical Education/Driver Education Teacher in a secondary setting.
- Experience teaching at-risk youth.
