Requirements

One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent
Twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
No suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
Must obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment (for employees hired after February 28, 2022).
Possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License or equivalent with P and N endorsements.
Commercial Driver License cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z.
Meet the PA residency requirement.
Able to perform essential job functions.
Submission of criminal history reports is required for a conditional offer of employment.
Undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.

Responsibilities

Conduct standardized skills and knowledge tests for Commercial and Non-Commercial Driver License applicants
Evaluate applicant driving abilities, physical readiness, and vehicle conditions against established safety standards
Review applications and related documents for accuracy and investigate possible irregularities or fraud
Check vehicles for required safety features such as inspection stickers, lighting, and windshield wipers
Perform vision screenings and CDL-related exams, including knowledge, pre-trip, and driving tests
Monitor Third Party Examiners and Driver Education teachers for compliance with testing requirements
