About The Position

The Ohio Department of Public Safety - Bureau of Motor Vehicles/Driver Exam Services/District 8 Lebanon is seeking a Driver License Examiner 1. This position involves conducting examinations for vehicle operator's licenses, administering driving tests, evaluating applicant driving abilities, and utilizing BMV computer systems for data entry and knowledge tests. The Bureau of Motor Vehicles aims to make driver and motor vehicle licensing and registration services convenient, efficient, and cost-effective. The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace and may have additional restrictions related to drug use.

Requirements

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes calculating fractions, decimals & percentages & in reading, writing & speaking English
• 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in human/public relations
• Valid Ohio Class 'D' Driver License
• Must be 21 years of age per Section 4507.05 (A) (2) (B)

Responsibilities

• Conducts examination of applicants for vehicle operator's license by means of physically accompanying applicant in vehicle during road testing over a prescribed course
• Instructs applicant in maneuvers to be performed during testing
• Administers driving tests to applicants for class D license, motorcycle license, moped license, restricted license & other exams as required by the BMV
• Evaluates & grades applicant's ability to drive
• Utilize BMV computer systems to enter applicant information (e. g., name, date of birth, social security number, medical information, out of state driver license information, test scores, test appointments, etc.) & to administer knowledge tests for various license classes (e.g., Class D, moped & CDL - Class A, B, C) & endorsements (e.g., motorcycle, passenger, school bus, hazmat, doubles & triples, etc.)
