About The Position

Penske is seeking a Driver Hiring Specialist responsible for sourcing, interviewing, and making hiring decisions for professional truck driver positions for Penske Logistics. This role serves as the primary point of contact for driver candidates, providing a high-touch, personal approach. The specialist will manage the complete life-cycle recruiting process, including sourcing, selection, job offers, and scheduling of clinical services and road tests. The role requires interaction with candidates and field operations managers via phone and electronic correspondence. Ideal candidates are passionate about driving careers, relationship building, possess high energy, a positive attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver results. Proficiency in technology, including capturing candidate information via phone while managing multiple computer applications, is essential. This is a Monday through Friday position from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, requiring a minimum of 4 days in the office per week, with one day of remote flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Actively source and manage driver leads via inbound and outbound calls, e-mail, social media, resume and other internet databases, and associate referrals.
  • Present the total value proposition and benefits of working with Penske to qualified driver candidates and discuss available driver opportunities.
  • Accurately capture and manage driver information in the lead capture system, Salesforce.com.
  • Engage driver leads who may not currently meet requirements or have interest in current openings for future consideration using established systems and processes.
  • Take phone applications from qualified driver leads, accurately capturing their information into Penske’s application systems.
  • Ensure all applications are fully complete and accurate per company and DOT requirements.
  • Manage candidates in the application system, Oracle, in accordance with all company procedures.
  • Conduct phone and/or video interviews with qualified candidates, utilizing Penske’s selection process and tools.
  • Ensure all candidates meet minimum qualifications.
  • Make hiring decisions that impact business operations and external customer success.
  • Manage a timely candidate process within Penske’s expected thresholds.
  • Expedite and ensure all new leads, candidate follow-up, and internal customer follow-up are executed with priority. Return all messages before leaving work each day.
  • Manage candidate processes such as ordering driving records and initiating background screening services through a third-party.
  • Schedule drug screening/physicals for candidates with approved clinics and notify providers.
  • Schedule road tests and manager introductions with location managers and other operations personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal/state hiring laws and regulations.
  • Actively demonstrate company commitment to diversity and inclusion strategies to ensure strong, diverse candidate slates.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
