DMV - Driver Education Program Specialist
About The Position
This position is located in District 2 – Cumberland County and supports surrounding areas/districts. The role involves training and certifying school bus drivers in classroom and behind-the-wheel settings, teaching safe driving procedures for various safety programs, and conducting vision and medical screenings. Additionally, it includes providing training and certification for commercial driver training instructors, inspecting commercial driver training schools and vehicles for compliance with laws, and investigating complaints related to these schools. The position requires completing weekly reports to the central office and maintaining all work-related reports and files. Applicants are subject to a criminal background and motor vehicle records check. The program area may include experience in training and teaching, auditing, bus driving, working knowledge of DMV or federal computer programs, and/or experience inspecting vehicles for CDL law.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of experience related to the area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Applicant subject to a criminal background-motor vehicle records check.

- Experience with Microsoft applications
- Previously or currently possess a Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a P (Passenger) and S (School Bus) endorsements for at least 2 years
Responsibilities
- Train and certify school bus drivers in the classroom and behind the wheel.
- Teach safe driving procedures for school bus driver defensive driving courses, driver improvement clinics, and other safety programs.
- Conduct vision and medical screenings for driver education classes.
- Provide training and certification for commercial driver training instructors.
- Inspect commercial driver training schools and vehicles for compliance with state and county laws.
- Investigate complaints involving commercial driver training schools.
- Complete required weekly reports to be submitted to the central office.
- Compile and maintain all work-related reports and files.
