Delivery Driver CDL Class B required

About The Position

The Driver/Delivery Person picks up and/or delivers merchandise as required and represents United Central Industrial Supply Company in a positive manner, promoting the company’s reputation. The role operates company vehicles, loads and unloads merchandise, completes deliveries according to schedule, and handles delivery documentation or payments. It also includes vehicle upkeep, customer service, warehouse and stockyard housekeeping, stock transfers, safety compliance, training, and other departmental duties as needed.

Requirements

Commercial Driver’s License with the proper class specification.
General understanding of Department of Transportation regulations.
Successfully pass a company-administered driving test.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

One year of commercial driving experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate company vehicles safely and observe traffic laws and regulations.
Load and unload merchandise on vehicles.
Obtain signatures and/or payments upon delivery of merchandise.
Follow assigned delivery schedules and make deliveries on time.
Report accidents according to company policies.
Maintain vehicle appearance and report needed maintenance.
Maintain a neat personal appearance and remain courteous and service-minded when dealing with customers.
Keep the supervisor informed of shortages, overages, damaged merchandise, and unresolved customer complaints.
Maintain housekeeping in the warehouse and stockyard.
Assist in the stock transfer process.
Comply with company and customer safety regulations when entering customer property.
Attend training courses, including recertification and safety training.
Perform counter sales, inventory control, and other departmental duties as required.
Perform other duties the supervisor deems necessary to fulfill company objectives.
