About The Position

The Delivery Driver picks up and/or delivers merchandise as required and represents United Central Industrial Supply positively. The role operates company vehicles, handles merchandise, follows delivery schedules, and provides courteous customer service. It may also support warehouse and stockyard housekeeping, stock transfers, counter sales, inventory control, and other departmental duties. The position requires a commercial driver's license in the proper class, a company-administered driving test, and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Requirements

Commercial driver's license in the proper class specification; the posting title specifies CDL Class B.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Successfully pass a company-administered driving test.
General understanding of Department of Transportation regulations.
One year of commercial driving experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate company vehicles safely and observe traffic laws and regulations.
Load and unload merchandise on vehicles.
Obtain signatures and/or payments upon delivery.
Follow assigned delivery schedules and make deliveries on time.
Report accidents according to company policies.
Maintain vehicle appearance and report needed maintenance.
Maintain a neat personal appearance and remain courteous and service-minded when dealing with customers.
Inform the supervisor of shortages, overages, damaged merchandise, and unresolved customer complaints.
Maintain housekeeping in the warehouse and stockyard.
Assist in the stock transfer process.
Follow company and customer safety regulations when entering customer property.
Attend training courses, including recertification and safety training.
Perform counter sales, inventory control, and other departmental duties as required.
Perform other duties deemed necessary by the supervisor to fulfill company objectives.
