Driver Class B Trainee
About The Position
Safety-Kleen, a subsidiary of Clean Harbors, is seeking a Sales and Service Route Driver Trainee in Dodge City, Kansas. The trainee will learn to drive a Class B box truck to provide onsite service for parts washer machines, pick up containerized hazardous waste, and sell products and services along a defined route. The company will pay for the employee to obtain a CDL. The role involves completing scheduled customer services, deliveries, and pickups, exchanging drums of solutions at customer locations, maintaining documentation and labels, and developing sales opportunities with existing customers. The employee must follow applicable safety, environmental, transportation, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Obtain a Class B CDL within 180 days of employment; the company pays for it.
- Obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsements within 30 days of obtaining a Class B CDL.
- Ability to work independently while managing time and productivity.
- Basic computer and math skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform physical functions required by the job.
- Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, as required by the position.
Nice To Haves
- Strong customer service skills.
- Commercial route driving experience (Class C or non-CDL).
Responsibilities
- Comply with safe work practices, policies, and processes, and act safely at all times.
- Complete scheduled services, deliveries, and pickups in a timely manner.
- Switch out 15- and 30-gallon drums of solutions at customer locations.
- Complete required documentation and labeling.
- Generate or collect customer leads for new products and services.
- Sell additional products and services to existing accounts.
- Follow applicable local, state, provincial, and federal compliance regulations and rules.
- Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT and applicable local, state, provincial, and federal requirements.
- Follow corporate operating guidelines and procedures.
- Follow company environmental, health, and safety operating guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
