The Development Engineer for Transmission, Driveline & Gear Reducer analyzes, develops, and validates transmission and driveline systems and subsystems and integrates them into Stellantis vehicles. Systems may include automatic or manual transmissions, axles and limited-slip devices, prop shafts, half shafts, transfer cases, PTUs, and rear drive modules. Stellantis products span off-road to performance vehicles and include battery-electric, hybrid, and conventional internal-combustion powertrains, with a significant portion being all-wheel drive. The engineer is responsible for vehicle integration and ensuring driveline hardware and controls meet the vehicle’s mission profile while maintaining brand character. The role develops validation plans and executes performance development and validation tests in vehicles and drive-simulation environments. It collaborates with driveline torque-distribution, powertrain, and brake-system calibrators, Chief Engineering, the Product Release Center, and Vehicle Synthesis Engineering. The engineer works through production-release and change-management processes to provide a validated system at each vehicle build milestone, from pre-production through post-production. Teams include global vehicle organizations and internal and external hardware and software suppliers. The role also supports competitive vehicle benchmarking, measured-load data acquisition, driveline-system architecture development, control-specification development, and test-procedure development. Limited travel for low-mu winter, off-road, and track development trips is expected.
