The Development Engineer for Transmission, Driveline & Gear Reducer analyzes, develops, and validates transmission and driveline systems and subsystems and integrates them into Stellantis vehicles. Driveline systems may include automatic or manual transmissions, axle and limited-slip devices, prop shafts, half shafts, transfer cases, PTUs, and rear drive modules. Stellantis products range from off-road to performance vehicles and include BEV, hybrid, and conventional internal-combustion powertrains, with a significant portion featuring all-wheel drive. The engineer is responsible for vehicle integration and for ensuring driveline hardware and controls meet the vehicle’s mission profile and maintain the character of the brand. The role includes developing development and validation plans and executing performance development and validation tests in vehicles and drive-simulation environments. The engineer works closely with driveline torque-distribution, powertrain, and brake-system calibrators, as well as Chief Engineering, Product Release Center, and Vehicle Synthesis Engineering organizations. The engineer follows production-release and change-management processes to provide a validated driveline system at each vehicle build milestone, from pre-production through post-production. The engineering teams include global vehicle teams and internal and external hardware and software-controls suppliers. The engineer also supports competitive vehicle benchmarking, measured-load data acquisition, driveline system architecture and control specification development, and test-procedure development. Travel includes limited low-mu winter, off-road, and track development trips.
