About The Position

The Drive Qualification Engineer will lead the development, integration, and support of storage devices within the Primary Storage Business Unit. This role requires deep subject expertise in SSD and HDD technologies, with a focus on enterprise environments. The engineer will drive innovation, ensure compatibility, and support cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance storage solutions. You will apply your expertise in NVMe and SAS technologies, bus-trace analysis, hardware architecture, and laboratory testing to drive product quality and innovation. This role also provides opportunities to influence storage product development, resolve complex technical challenges, and mentor engineers across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically, 4+ years of experience with Lab testing for Storage devices for SSD and HDD
  • High Fluency in Linux Environment particularly Debian
  • In-depth experience with NVMe and SAS capturing and analyzing bus traces using electrical design tools and software packages including SerialTek, JDSU, and LeCroy NVMe and SAS Analyzers
  • Knowledge and Skills:
  • T10’s SAS Interface Specifications and OCP Data Center SATA/ SAS Drive Specification.
  • NVM Express, NVMe Management Interface, OCP Data Center Drive, and MCTP Base Specifications
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in overall architecture of electronic hardware for products and solutions.
  • Designing and integrating electronic components, integrated circuitry, and algorithms into overall architecture.
  • Evaluating and proposing forms of empirical analysis, modeling, and testing methodologies to validate component, circuit, and hardware designs and thermal/emissions management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
  • Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead integration of SSDs into HPE Primary Storage systems, which includes developing and executing qualification tests, defining, and managing joint testing activities with suppliers, and resolving issues during qualification
  • Manages and expands technical relationships with industry suppliers and internal development partners on electrical hardware and firmware design of storage devices for Primary Storage.
  • Partner with customer support, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to investigate, understand, and resolve SSD issues in the field and in the factory
  • Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with Industry Standards and HPE Primary Storage requirements; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality.
  • Provides domain-specific expertise and overall electrical/electronic hardware leadership and perspective on storage devices to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities throughout the life cycle of the storage products.
  • Drives innovation and integration of new storage device technologies into projects and activities to differentiate HPE storage products from competition
  • Develops validation methods for new storage device features.
  • Captures and decodes NVMe and SAS bus analyzer traces to resolve storage relates issues.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.
