About The Position

PTC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of welded and cold-drawn mechanical steel tubing and tubular shapes, plated bar and tubing, and fabricated parts and precision components. The Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a Full Length Drift machine to test each pipe, ensuring that drift travels the full length of every tube. The Operator is also responsible for keeping the line moving in auto mode.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent
  • manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using while numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers.
  • Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.
  • Forklift certified, crane certified is a plus
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, and/or walk, and/or use arms and hands to load and unload material for extended period of time.
  • Must be able to safely lift and load 50lbs.
  • The employee must also be able to work outside in a variety of conditions.
  • Candidates must be able to tolerate any climate, must be flexible with shift and hours.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor for any rejects and report them to supervisor or team lead.
  • Perform daily checks on the drift, and check calibration on all measuring devices, measure and verify drift mandrel meets requirements, document findings daily and turn in to supervisor.
  • Perform any and all checklist as required.
  • Direct and assist in roll changes and set ups.
  • Assist in minor maintenance repairs.
  • Fill out necessary log sheets.
  • Turn in required repair lists.
  • Keep work area and equipment clean.
  • Maintain safe working conditions.
