About The Position

This role operates with a high level of independent judgment and is responsible for implementing functional strategy, administering and coordinating programs, and counseling and advising management. As a fully qualified individual contributor with deep knowledge of the function, you will provide expert judgment and analysis for the design, development, and implementation of technical products and systems in electric power seating modules.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering – BSEE required, MSEE preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant Electric Power experience (or equivalent) required
  • Minimum 3 years of automotive industry experience required
  • High level understanding of hardware and software design and failure modes in electromechanical modules
  • Understanding of power electronic circuitry and control
  • Ability to read system engineering schematics and understand electronic / electrical functionality
  • Knowledge of vehicle serial data communications (CAN, GMLAN, LIN,)
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer technical solutions for current and new programs related to electric power modules, LIN devices and extenders for seating functions (e.g., lumbar, 10-way adjust, massage, comfort systems).
  • Lead the product development team for electric power components, managing development and release activities in alignment with program timing and execution requirements.
  • Lead CoSIM and virtual validation activities for relevant components and systems.
  • Develop, execute and evaluate designs at the component, subsystem, and system levels, including analysis, development, and testing.
  • Lead and support advanced technical projects related to electric power for seating systems and SDV, including both VIP and SDV hardware.
  • Support product development teams as an advocate for electric module technology integration with suppliers, including using NeoVI tools for in-vehicle root cause and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure component design, development and release are robustly integrated within the vehicle architecture and delivered on time with quality.
  • Manage supplier timing and associated deliverables (e.g., run PDT meetings, issue investigation and resolution, on-vehicle investigation and analysis, part deliveries to test vehicles and assembly plants).
  • Coordinate globally with seat homeroom centers across all regions (PATAC, GMTC-K, GMM, GM-B).
  • Contribute to and manage the component Statement of Requirements (eSOR), component timing plan, PDT workbook, issue tracking, and updates specific to SDV requirements.
  • Use 3D math modeling to study component packaging and surrounding interfaces as required.
  • Collaborate with AVDC (advanced engineering) to propose technical solutions for current and new programs, including packaging, clearances and interface documentation (ICDm, ICDe, ICDs).
  • Execute quality chain deliverables such as DFMEAs and DRBFMs to drive defect-free components.
  • Coordinate with CAE for finite element or modal analysis, evaluate packaging and resolve issues based on analysis results.
  • Manage interface control documents (ICDm, ICDe, ICDs) at both component and subsystem levels, working with integration counterparts to develop robust solutions and templates.
  • Release parts for both production and service.
  • Manage cost, quality, mass and related metrics for assigned components, ensuring robust, cost- and mass-efficient designs.
  • Support pre-production build events, including both physical and virtual builds.
  • Provide assembly plant launch support and issue remediation as needed.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other engineering functions, purchasing, suppliers and internal customers to support overall engineering activities.
  • Lead investigation and resolution of QRD and warranty concerns for assigned components, including data deep-dives and coordination with QRD, suppliers, and internal integration teams to drive issue containment and reduce warranty.
  • "Close the loop" on lessons learned by updating best practices, GM specifications, and SOR templates.
  • Coach, mentor and assist other team members as opportunities arise.
