About The Position

Ardurra is looking to hire a Drainage Engineer to join our Transportation team in Orlando, FL! Ardurra is a multidisciplinary civil engineering services firm providing comprehensive solutions to public and private sector clients. We leverage technical expertise, integrated project delivery, and local market knowledge to deliver high-quality infrastructure solutions throughout Florida. Ardurra’s Orlando/Oviedo transportation team delivers drainage and water resources engineering for FDOT and municipal roadway improvements throughout Florida. Our work includes corridor reconstruction, intersection enhancements, and stormwater management system design including retention/detention facilities and conveyance infrastructure. Primary Function: The Drainage Engineer supports and performs design engineering for drainage and water resources engineering on FDOT and municipal transportation projects. Responsible for contributing to the planning, analysis, and design of drainage systems in accordance with FDOT standards and Florida Water Management District permitting requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent
  • 4-6+ years of drainage and water resources engineering experience.
  • Active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Proficiency with Bentley OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation.
  • Strong working knowledge of FDOT Drainage Manual and Florida stormwater permitting requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and contribute to project delivery within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated FDOT drainage design experience
  • Experience with Stormwise (ICPR), HEC-RAS, HY-8, BMPTRAINs or related hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software

Responsibilities

  • Support drainage design for FDOT roadway and transportation projects throughout Central Florida.
  • Develop drainage concepts and perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for stormwater management systems.
  • Prepare drainage calculations, reports, design plans, and technical specifications in accordance with the FDOT Drainage Manual and applicable design criteria.
  • Design storm sewer systems, stormwater ponds, exfiltration systems, and roadway drainage infrastructure under direction of senior staff.
  • Coordinate with FDOT, local agencies, and internal teams throughout project development.
  • Assist in preparing and supporting permit applications to Water Management Districts and other regulatory agencies.
  • Utilize Bentley products, including OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation, for drainage modeling and plan production.
  • Assist in mentoring junior engineers and EITs.
  • Perform quality control checks of drainage plans, calculations, and supporting documentation.
  • Support proposal development, scope preparation, and fee estimates for new opportunities.
