About The Position

The Drainage Design Engineer applies hydrologic and hydraulic engineering principles to the planning, analysis, and design of drainage infrastructure for transportation and roadway improvement projects. Working with multidisciplinary teams and under senior engineers’ guidance, the engineer contributes to stormwater management solutions such as storm sewer systems, culverts, open channels, detention and retention facilities, roadway drainage networks, and hydraulic structures. The role involves drainage analyses, engineering calculations, construction plans, technical reports, and evaluation of flood risks, watershed impacts, and regulatory compliance. The engineer uses industry-standard design software and modeling tools to assess system performance and ensure designs meet applicable transportation agency standards, drainage criteria, and environmental regulations. With growing experience, the engineer takes greater ownership of deliverables, coordinates with stakeholders, helps resolve engineering challenges, and contributes to project planning and execution. This hybrid position works between office and field environments. It may involve occasional exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, hazards, atmospheric conditions, and bodies of water, depending on project requirements. It requires successful completion of applicable pre-employment substance screening and background checks.
