About The Position
The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Division of AK Air National Guard (ANG), Contracting Section is recruiting for a Drafting Technician 3. This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range 15. This position is open to Alaska Residents only. As part of our dynamic team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting engineering and infrastructure projects through AutoCAD drafting, technical documentation, project coordination, GIS data management, and records maintenance. Responsibilities include developing and updating engineering plans and maps, preparing specifications and cost estimates, interpreting survey and field data, performing engineering calculations, coordinating federally funded projects, and maintaining accurate technical records and infrastructure databases. Requirements
- Completion of two courses in computer assisted drafting, design or mechanical drawing at the high school level, OR 6 semester hours or 8 quarter hours of computer assisted drafting, design, or mechanical drawing course work at the technical/vocational school or college level
- One year of automated drafting experience as a Drafting Technician 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere
- Daily use of complex systems including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and various facility management databases
- Knowledge of conceptualizing, developing, producing, understanding, and using plans, models, blueprints, and maps, including the use of tools and instruments to produce precision technical drawings, working prototypes, components, or systems
- Thoroughness when performing work and conscientiousness about attending to detail
- Knowledge of various types of contracts, techniques, or requirements (for example, Federal Acquisitions Regulations) for contracting or procurement, and contract negotiation and administration
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods used to determine, estimate, and analyze costs, including determining life cycle costs, application of cost models, and evaluation of cost realism
- Must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access
- Must be able to maintain the clearance throughout employment
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)
- Must successfully pass a background investigation through the State Security Office (SSO) and be eligible for and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)
- Valid Driver`s License required
