About The Position

Produces radiation treatment plans and performs dose calculations under the supervision of a board-certified Dosimetrist and the Chief Physicist as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Participates in the overall treatment planning process, including simulation, planning, verification, and treatment. Supports the technical staff in problem solving with radiation therapy procedures and assists with special procedures as assigned. Starts any necessary training required to achieve eligibility for Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB) certification within twenty-four months of hire and achieves MDCB certification within thirty-six months of eligibility.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree Radiation Therapy or equivalent or Technical School Diploma Certificate in Radiation Therapy or equivalent
Knowledge of radiation therapy procedures and patient care techniques
Analytical ability to resolve problems that involve the use of basic scientific, mathematical, and technical principles.
Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

Develops optimal radiation treatment plans following established procedures, in collaboration with physicians, physicists, and other colleagues.
Prepares plan for treatment in the record and verify system, with appropriate communication to ensure treatment delivered as intended.
Submits treatment planning charges within the appropriate timeframe according to established billing guidelines.
Provides advice and guidance for simulation and treatment procedures as needed to achieve optimal patient radiation treatments.
Performs or participates in the fabrication of patient-specific treatment devices as needed.
