Performs virtual simulation using computed tomography (CT)/simulation and treatment planning software. Measures and generates radiation dose distributions and calculations as directed. Correlates, performs calculations, measurements and fusions of scans using positron emission tomography (PET), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and CT treatment planning with simulation and treatment for simple cases. Prepares treatment plans to limit doses to critical structures by optimizing computerized plans and assisting with treatment planning for simple cases, utilizing treatment planning algorithms as needed under the direction of a Medical Physicist or Dosimetrist II. Assists in treatment planning for implant programs and complex cases; edits and troubleshoots problems with multileaf collimation as directed. Records data in patient charts and troubleshoots patient information in medical record. Operates and performs quality assurance (QA) on equipment as required. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
