About The Position

The Dorm Supervisor oversees all residential life operations for the Florida Musical Theatre Intensive while students are housed on the Rollins College campus. This role serves as the primary on-site adult responsible for student safety, health, and wellbeing, including behavior management, emergency response, and leadership of the Resident Assistant team. The Dorm Supervisor is responsible for evening residential programming, including the planning and execution of nightly activities, and is on call during evening and overnight hours to respond to emergencies or student needs. The Florida Musical Theatre Intensive is a two-week program running from June 14 through June 28, 2026, serving approximately 60 high school students ages 14–19. The program takes place at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, with student and residential life team housing provided at Rollins College during the residential portion of the program. The residential life team consists of Dorm Supervisors and a team of Resident Assistants who support student supervision and engagement. This temporary position runs from June 1 through July 2, 2026, and is part of the residential life team reporting to the Manager, Education.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Applicants must be at least 20 years of age by the start of employment due to the supervisory and residential responsibilities of the role.
  • At least 2 years of experience in residential life, camp management, student affairs, or youth program supervision required.
  • Will be required to complete CPR/AED/First Aid training within the first 60 days or present an unexpired certificate of training.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work long hours and maintain professionalism in a residential environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working in a residential setting is preferred.
  • Background in education, arts administration, or student affairs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, support, and manage the team of Resident Assistants (RAs).
  • Conduct daily staff check-ins to review schedules, student concerns, and housing needs.
  • Oversee all dorm operations, ensuring housing rules and program policies are consistently enforced.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Education Leadership team regarding student wellbeing, incidents, and staffing needs.
  • Travel with and supervise students during daily transportation between housing and the Dr. Phillips Center, ensuring student safety, accountability, and timely arrival in accordance with program schedules.
  • Serve as the primary emergency contact for all residential matters.
  • Be on call during evening and overnight hours to respond to emergencies, student concerns, or facility issues.
  • Ensure adherence to curfews, sign-in/sign-out procedures, and all housing regulations.
  • Monitor dorm access, evening check-ins, and safety protocols.
  • Address, document, and report disciplinary or behavioral concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Respond to medical, mental health, or emotional emergencies as needed, following established crisis response protocols.
  • Coordinate emergency response with campus security, medical professionals, and program leadership when necessary.
  • Ensure proper documentation and communication of all medical incidents.
  • Oversee medication administration procedures, if applicable, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with program guidelines.
  • Coordinate daily communication between housing staff and program staff (transportation, schedules, meals, and student needs).
  • Serve as the primary liaison with Rollins College housing staff, dorm coordinators, and campus security regarding facilities, maintenance, or safety concerns.
  • Mediate roommate conflicts and address housing-related concerns proactively.
  • Distribute and collect keys, ID cards, and housing-related materials.
  • Monitor overall student wellness, including fatigue, homesickness, stress, or conflict, while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Support RAs in conducting regular student check-ins.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and respectful residential environment.
  • Oversee and support RA-led evening activities (movie nights, icebreakers, group games, etc.).
  • Promote an inclusive, positive, and community-focused residential culture.
  • Maintain daily and nightly logs documenting incidents, curfew checks, and student concerns.
  • Submit regular reports to the Program Manager and School of the Arts Manager as required.
  • Follow and support all operational policies and procedures.
  • Assimilate into the arts center culture through understanding, supporting and demonstrating the core values.
  • Maintain a professional and friendly relationship with other departments, colleagues, and partners.
  • Able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Maintain Dr. Phillips Center standards of customer service at all times.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English in both written and oral forms.
  • Other duties as assigned.
