About The Position

The Door Assembly Technician will be responsible for building security doors according to drawings, work instructions, and electrical schematics. This role involves using power and hand tools, measuring parts, applying cosmetic cladding, pulling material, and making mechanical adjustments to ensure proper door operation. The technician will also be responsible for setting up and operating equipment for drilling and tapping, maintaining inventory processes, and keeping the workplace clean and organized. Additionally, the role includes inspecting sub-components and finished products for defects, ensuring safety protocols are followed, loading and packing finished assemblies, and contributing to process improvements.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of proper assembly procedures, mechanical aptitude, and of machinery and hand tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of strapping and rigging for the use of overhead cranes.
  • Ability to understand dimensions in both Metric and Imperial.
  • Ability to understand and convert dimensions between decimals and fractions.
  • Basic wiring skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety protocols and regulations.
  • Ability to stand / walk / work on a concrete floor for 10 hours per day.
  • Good physical stamina (lifting heavy equipment) and ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to operate machinery in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Ownership of safety practices
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification
  • At least 2 years of experience working with mechanical assembly
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to learn new skills.
  • Follow all Harden policies and procedures regarding safety and quality.
  • Complete all necessary process documentation as required.
  • Work within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build security doors based on drawings, work instructions, and electrical schematics.
  • Use power tools and hand tools to assemble door components.
  • Measure parts accurately to ensure proper fit.
  • Apply cosmetic cladding as required by customer orders.
  • Pull material and stage for various levels of assembly operations.
  • Mechanically adjust as needed to ensure proper door operation.
  • Set up and operate equipment to drill and tap as needed.
  • Maintain all inventory processes, labor, material, and product tracking.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workplace.
  • Inspect sub-components and assembled products for any defects or non-compliance to prints; Document as required per the quality system.
  • Visually inspect all products for defects per specifications.
  • Ensure that safety protocols are followed while in the facility.
  • Report all safety concerns to supervision immediately.
  • Load finished assemblies into crates with the proper subcomponents and document crate contents as required.
  • Label/mark completed crates as required for proper identification and shipping.
  • Provide input, collaborate with Harden team members, and implement process improvements to improve safety, quality, delivery, and costs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
