•$60,000 - $75,000•Remote

About The Position

Ballotpedia is seeking a full-time, 100% remote Donor Engagement Manager to join its External Relations team. Reporting to the Director of External Relations, this role works collaboratively with External Relations colleagues and teams across the organization. The manager runs and grows fundraising programs, including digital giving and direct mail, with a focus on turning readers and one-time givers into recurring members and repeat donors. Programs overseen include Ballotpedia Society, the ad-free reader program, online giving, direct mail, donor retention communications, and seasonal fundraising campaigns. This role is suited to someone with strong fundraising writing skills, analytical curiosity, and reliable project-management abilities. The manager designs and evaluates experiments, uses results to improve donor engagement, and supports the organization’s mission through effective fundraising. The position is remote from the employee’s home location; Ballotpedia staff work remotely, and employees must have a computer with internet access. Ballotpedia offers its BP Flex environment, which includes unlimited vacation and flexible scheduling. Starting pay is $60,000–$75,000 per year, commensurate with experience. An annual benefits stipend equivalent to $8,000 is paid in equal increments in each paycheck once the employee becomes benefits eligible. The stipend may be used for a benefits package, including health, vision, and dental insurance and retirement accounts, or, if benefits are not elected, is taxed as regular income and added to salary.

  • Comfort working with data and spreadsheets to evaluate campaign results, identify trends, and recommend improvements.

  • Strong customer-service orientation and enthusiasm for creating a positive experience for donors and members.
  • Curiosity, self-motivation, and interest in understanding what inspires donors and deepening their connection to Ballotpedia.
  • A test-and-learn mindset, including willingness to try new approaches, analyze results, and improve fundraising performance.
  • Organized persistence in keeping campaigns, donor communications, and recurring tasks on schedule.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with moving parts and collaborate with colleagues and outside vendors.
  • Receptiveness to feedback and eagerness to learn, adapt, and improve.
  • Belief in and enthusiasm for Ballotpedia’s mission to provide accurate, fact-based information to American voters.
