About The Position

National Jewish Health is seeking a Donor Content Specialist to join our dynamic, mission-driven Development Communications Team. National Jewish Health is known worldwide for treatment of patients with respiratory, cardiac, immune and related disorders, and for groundbreaking medical research. Founded in 1899 as a nonprofit hospital, we remain the only facility in the world dedicated exclusively to these disorders. If you’re a talented in creating content for donors, we need you on our team. You’ll be tasked with a wide range of writing projects, including special event scripts and publicity, newsletter articles, donor communications, proposals seeking support for our vital research programs and much more.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of recent and related experience as a professional writer required, including a portfolio of published materials reflecting experience in the following areas: fundraising, donor proposals. grant writing, persuasive writing, grant writing and marketing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Nice To Haves

  • English, Communications, Business or Journalism preferred.
  • Prefer experience using digital platforms to create and manage social media and digital content; design tools such as Canva; and collaboration tools such as SharePoint.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, writes, and edits proposals, letters, newsletters, brochures, speeches, digital content and related materials for cultivation and solicitation of major and planned gifts.
  • Prepares both program-specific and general appeal materials as assigned by National Director, Development Communications.
  • Works with faculty, as directed, to assure accurate and timely information on biomedical programs.
  • Prepares letters for signature by the CEO and/or VP/Development as requested.
  • Researches and writes reports to donors on specific programs and activities.
  • Edits and proofreads materials prepared by Development staff members for grammar, accuracy of text, style, and consistency.
  • Responsible for all materials required for Development publications.
  • Performs as member of the Development Department team attending meetings and participates on committees as needed.
  • Acts as a liaison to Marketing and outside vendors to determine content, design, and production of various Development publications as assigned.
  • Utilizes desktop publishing or other appropriate tools to develop or adapt materials for donor cultivation or information.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
