About The Position

Transform Lives with LifeShare Network – Donation Services Coordinator. This role serves as a critical first point of contact for organ, eye, and tissue donor referrals. Working primarily by phone, you’ll communicate with hospital staff, donor families, medical professionals, and other partners to evaluate potential donation opportunities and help coordinate the donation process. This role combines compassionate communication, medical screening, critical thinking, and attention to detail. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly and the work you do can directly contribute to saving and healing lives.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or two years of related healthcare experience preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to communicate compassionately and professionally with grieving families.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of healthcare professionals and external partners.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective in highly stressful situations.
  • Comfort working independently while also collaborating closely with a team.
  • Strong computer skills and comfort navigating multiple systems and applications.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly valued and would be a strong asset in this role, but is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and coordinate incoming organ, eye, and tissue donor referrals.
  • Communicate with hospital staff to gather medical information and evaluate potential donor eligibility.
  • Perform initial triage and medical screening of potential donors.
  • Present donation opportunities to families with empathy, sensitivity, and professionalism.
  • Obtain informed authorization for donation from appropriate legal next of kin.
  • Conduct detailed donor risk assessment and medical/social history interviews with families.
  • Create and maintain accurate donor records and complete required documentation within established timeframes.
  • Communicate with hospitals, medical examiners, funeral homes, tissue partners, and other healthcare professionals throughout the donation process.
  • Coordinate follow-up activities and communicate critical medical information to internal and external partners.
  • Support clinical and recovery teams with ongoing case activity and operational needs.
  • Manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Participate in a schedule that ensures LifeShare Network is available to serve donors, families, and hospitals 24/7/365.
