About The Position

A Goodwill donation attendant is responsible for accepting, sorting, and organizing donated items at Goodwill stores or donation centers. This role involves welcoming donors, providing receipts, inspecting items for quality, categorizing donations, assigning prices, and maintaining the cleanliness of the donation area. The attendant also prepares shipments, assists with loading and unloading trucks, and sanitizes furniture. They must follow Goodwill's policies and procedures to ensure a safe and respectful environment, work congenially with colleagues, and maintain hygiene standards. The position requires clear communication, a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain acceptable results for required background checks, including Act 151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and Pennsylvania Criminal History Check.
  • Ability to perform basic job duties with a minimal amount of supervision, exercising good judgment and initiative.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule on short notice, including evenings, weekends, holidays and occasionally long hours (more than 8 hours).
  • Must be dependable in attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 lbs. frequently.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to perform prolonged walking and standing.
  • Ability to perform frequent bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Vision and hearing corrected to within normal limits.

  • Operating a pallet jack and stacker, if applicable.
  • Utilizing the UKG systems by clocking in and out and submitting timesheets on time.
  • Completing all required training throughout the year.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome donors, provide receipts, and offer assistance with unloading donations from vehicles.
  • Inspect donated items to ensure they meet safety and quality standards, checking for damages or items that cannot be accepted.
  • Categorize items such as clothing, furniture, electronics, and household goods.
  • Organize donations to prepare them for display in the store.
  • Assign prices to items based on guidelines provided by Goodwill.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the donation area and ensure donated items are stored neatly.
  • Prepare shipments prior to truck arrival.
  • Assist truck drivers with loading and unloading.
  • Spray furniture to sanitize when processing.
  • Follow Goodwill’s policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for donors and customers.
  • Perform basic job duties with a minimal amount of supervision, exercising good judgment and initiative.
