About The Position

A Goodwill donation attendant is responsible for accepting, sorting, and organizing donated items at Goodwill stores or donation centers.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain acceptable results for required background checks, including Act 151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and Pennsylvania Criminal History Check.
  • Ability to perform basic job duties with a minimal amount of supervision, exercising good judgment and initiative.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule on short notice, including evenings, weekends, holidays and occasionally long hours (more than 8 hours).
  • Must be dependable in attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 lbs. frequently.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to perform prolonged walking and standing.
  • Ability to perform frequent bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Vision and hearing corrected to within normal limits.

Nice To Haves

  • Operating a pallet jack and stacker, if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome donors, provide receipts, and offer assistance with unloading donations from vehicles.
  • Inspect donated items to ensure they meet safety and quality standards, checking for damages or items that cannot be accepted.
  • Categorize and organize donations (e.g., clothing, furniture, electronics, household goods) to prepare them for display.
  • Assign prices to items based on provided guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the donation area and ensure donated items are stored neatly.
  • Prepare shipments prior to truck arrival and assist truck drivers with loading and unloading.
  • Sanitize furniture by spraying when processing.
  • Follow Goodwill’s policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for donors and customers.
  • Perform basic job duties with minimal supervision, exercising good judgment and initiative.
  • Operate a pallet jack and stacker, if applicable.
  • Utilize the UKG systems by clocking in and out and submitting timesheets on time.
  • Complete all required training throughout the year.
  • Work congenially and effectively with other Goodwill store employees and agency employees.
  • Maintain hygiene and grooming standards.
  • Communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
  • Work a flexible schedule on short notice, including evenings, weekends, holidays and occasionally long hours (more than 8 hours).
  • Be dependable in attendance and punctuality.
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 lbs. frequently.
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally, using material handling equipment when practical.
  • Perform prolonged walking and standing.

  • Perform other functions, upon request, for the benefit of the Agency.
