About The Position

Paws Around Motown is a professional mobile pet care company serving Oakland County. The Dog Walker/Pet Sitter (Pet Care Technician) provides in-home dog walks and drop-in visits for multi-pet households in a consistent, local service area. The role involves caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and behavioral backgrounds, as well as cats and other small animals. Duties include feeding, providing hydration, administering medications, conducting Snout-to-Tail Health Assessments, and submitting detailed visit reports with photos through the company app. The work is active and independent, includes outdoor work year-round in Michigan weather, and may require walking several miles a day. Paws Around Motown provides training through a structured system and a dedicated mentor, as well as Pet CPR and First Aid certification. Advancement paths include Senior Pet Care Specialist and Team Leader. The position is available part-time or full-time, with a minimum of 25 hours per week. Employees must be available at least three weekdays per week, including Thursday, and for either the 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. shift, the 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. shift, or both on scheduled days. Availability for one weekend per month and all or most major holidays is required.

Requirements

Love dogs and be able to read their body language.
Be comfortable caring for dogs, cats, and other small pets.
Be active and able to walk several miles a day in any Michigan weather.
Pick up new apps and systems quickly and keep visit reports detailed and accurate.
Communicate clearly with clients and the team, in writing and in person.
Take feedback well and apply it on subsequent visits.
Be dependable, use sound judgment, and take pride in doing the job well.
Have a valid Michigan driver’s license and a reliable insured vehicle.
Be able to lift up to 40 pounds and handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
Live within a reasonable drive of Royal Oak, Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield, and Franklin.
Pass a background check.
Work at least 25 hours per week and be available at least three weekdays per week, including Thursday.
Be available for the 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. shift, the 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. shift, or both on scheduled days.
Be available to work one weekend per month and all or most major holidays.
