About The Position

LH Mercantile is hiring a full-time Dog Groomer. The groomer performs grooming and styling according to pet parents’ requests and breed standards, completes services such as brushing, bathing, and nail trims, and monitors pets’ wellbeing while in their care. The role also involves providing excellent customer service and recommendations, and maintaining a clean, organized grooming area that meets safety and animal care standards.

LH Mercantile is a locally owned Pet Supplies Plus franchisee with 16 locations throughout the Chicago suburbs and Northwest Indiana. The company provides pet washes, full-service grooming, curbside pickup, delivery, and autoship services, along with a wide selection of pet food and supplies.

Requirements

• Graduate of a grooming school or at least 2 years of professional grooming experience.
• Proficiency in breed-standard cuts and grooming techniques.
• Must supply your own professional grooming tools.
• Adherence to salon safety procedures and industry standards.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform grooming and styling according to pet parents’ requests and breed standards, consistently and professionally.
• Complete grooming services including brushing, bathing, and nail trims.
• Monitor pets in your care, follow handling best practices, and respond appropriately to signs of stress or health concerns.
• Build trust with customers through excellent service, clear communication, and thoughtful product and service recommendations.
• Keep grooming areas sanitary, organized, and inviting in accordance with safety and animal care standards.
