About The Position

SAIF's document imaging specialists are responsible for processing thousands of pieces of mail daily, including claims forms, medical bills, and correspondence. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, patience, and persistence. The position is critical to ensuring injured workers receive necessary benefits and physicians are paid. As a document imaging specialist, you will work in a team environment to organize, prioritize, and process workers' compensation information according to SAIF guidelines. This involves importing data using digital scanners and OCR software, verifying document accuracy, matching names with claim numbers, and assigning codes. The role demands comfort working under tight deadlines and flexibility due to shifting daily duties. Effective communication with teammates, including giving and receiving feedback, is also essential. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and remains calm under pressure. This is a Monday to Friday onsite position located in Salem, Oregon.

Requirements

  • Two years of successful clerical experience emphasizing data entry and independent sorting, prioritizing, and processing of various documents, preferably in a fast-paced production environment.
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Other combinations of skills and experience may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with workers’ compensation insurance documents is preferred.
  • Prior scanning experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Sort and batch incoming mail, prioritizing and identifying documents.
  • Process documents according to guidelines.
  • Prepare documents for scanning and process the batched documents through the imaging equipment.
  • Maintain batch-processing records.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks by inspecting batch images on the computer screen.
  • Verify document count and ensure images meet established quality standards.
  • Understand different document types based on detailed divisional taxonomies.
  • Utilize document taxonomy knowledge to correctly identify doc type and sub-type for indexing out of at least one of a variety of queues.
  • Understand workflows in different online queues.
  • Verify claim number and name, assign category, type, and document date, and route the document electronically to recipient.
  • Monitor and perform routine maintenance for the scanning equipment to ensure continuing processing efficiency.
  • Refer problems to the team lead or the Information Services Division as required.
  • Research missing claim or policy information on incoming mail by utilizing in-house computer applications.

  • Work effectively with others who have different perspectives, backgrounds, and/or work styles.
