About The Position

The Document Control Specialist will join Catalent’s Consumer Health team at its approximately 70,000-square-foot Manassas, Virginia facility, which supports dietary supplement and food-safety cGMP operations from early development through commercial manufacturing and packaging. The role creates and maintains Quality System documentation and supports compliance with SQF, the Food Safety Plan (HACCP), and the Food Quality Plan (FQP). It also supports Quality Assurance projects, communicates deviations to management, and contributes to quality standards and continuous improvement.

The position is 100% onsite in Manassas, Virginia, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The specialist prepares and organizes Quality System documents, manages document routing and approvals, performs internal audits, tracks non-conformances and corrective actions, and works with Production, Packaging, and R&D. The role also includes reviewing operator paperwork, entering and tracking data, following applicable FDA and cGMP standards, and completing required training.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience in the food industry.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written English.
• Ability to communicate with line-level employees and management.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to assert oneself effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop cross-functional and multinational relationships.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures and Test Methods.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Quality systems.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities including standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and talking or hearing; may also be required to sit, climb, balance, and taste or smell.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Food Science or a related major.
• Knowledge of spoken Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain Quality System documentation, including MMRs, specifications, BPRs, Food Safety and Quality Plans, and other required documents, ensuring proper formatting, numbering, and organization.
• Manage routing and approval processes for new documents and process deviations.
• Perform internal audits and document non-conformances to support continuous improvement.
• Document Quality System non-compliance and ensure corrective actions are implemented and completed.
• Work with Production and Packaging Managers and Supervisors, and R&D, to maintain and update records and documentation.
• Comply with SQF, Food Safety Plan (HACCP), and Food Quality Plan (FQP) standards.
• Ensure compliance with FDA and cGMP standards for Quality Control, including continuous training.
• Help ensure dietary supplements meet identity, purity, strength, and quality requirements.
• Participate in training required to perform job responsibilities.
• Use a computer to enter and track result data.
• Report deviations to the Quality Systems and Regulatory Manager in complete, appropriate detail.
• Review and verify operators’ paperwork to ensure it meets quality standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
