The Dockworker sorts and handles freight moving in and out of over-the-road equipment, containers, city trailers, and straight trucks. The role uses forklifts, pallet jacks, and other dock equipment to load and unload freight, verify shipments, secure loads, and support timely, claims-free, cost-efficient shipments. The Dockworker also records freight shortages and damage and helps maintain a safe, clean work environment. This position requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and regularly handling freight, including frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying items up to 100 pounds. Team lifting or mechanical assistance is required for heavier items. Work may involve varying temperatures and weather conditions because of dock and yard exposure, and schedules may vary to meet operational demands.
