About The Position

US Cargo, a subsidiary of PITT OHIO, is hiring a part-time Dockworker at its Brook Park, Ohio terminal. The company serves customers throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania and is expanding its capabilities to include LTL freight while maintaining a commitment to safety, service, and employees. The schedule is Monday and Thursday, with a 12 PM start.

Requirements

• Must be at least 17 years old.
• Must consent to a pre-employment drug screen and receive a negative result.
• Complete an employment application and interview.
• Pass a criminal background check.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Demonstrate a stable work history, good work ethic, dependability, and a positive, supportive, and cooperative attitude.
• Meet the physical demands of the job, including occasionally pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying up to 70 pounds; repetitively lifting 20 to 30 pounds; and standing, walking, twisting, bending, and reaching above and below waist level.

Responsibilities

• Sort and distribute boxes, bags, envelopes, cartons, and other goods on trucks or in the terminal’s designated sort area; freight may be palletized.
• Read tracking labels, manifests, bills of lading, and other shipping documents to determine the correct freight placement.
• Scan inbound and/or outbound freight.
• Load and unload freight on and off trucks using a forklift or, by hand, using a hand truck or pallet jack.
• Secure freight to prevent loss or damage.
• Work safely to reduce the risk of injury to oneself and fellow employees, and immediately report injuries, accidents, and safety hazards involving people or property.
• Count, weigh, and/or record the number of pieces as needed.
