PT Dockworker- Outbound- 6 PM Start
About The Position
PITT OHIO is hiring a part-time Outbound Dockworker at its Hermitage, Pennsylvania location. The schedule is Monday through Friday with a 6 PM start. The role involves loading, unloading, sorting, and securing freight in accordance with DOT requirements, using manual handling or equipment as appropriate. The work includes handling a variety of materials and requires heavy lifting and frequent physical activity. The position also involves completing daily paperwork, following applicable regulations, and working safely and cooperatively. Starting pay is $25.74 per hour, with top rate of $28.89 after six months.
Requirements
- Pass a non-DOT physical examination.
- Consent to a pre-employment drug screen and receive a negative result.
- Be able to read and write English and perform simple mathematical calculations.
- Consent to a ten-year work-history check; explain any gaps of 30 days or more and provide documentation if requested.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and the physical activities required for the role.
Responsibilities
- Read, write, and communicate effectively in English; perform simple mathematical calculations; handle receipts; read shipping labels; and follow loading instructions.
- Load and unload freight onto and off trucks by hand or using a hand truck or dolly, in accordance with DOT requirements.
- Sort and secure freight on trucks or the dock to prevent damage and meet DOT requirements.
- Handle a variety of materials, including cartons, bags, cylinders, boxes, crates, drums, pipe, bars, and rugs.
- Use common material-handling tools, including carts, dollies, pallet jacks, and tow motors.
- Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, carrying, bending, reaching, and lifting above and below waist level; heavy lifting is required.
- Work safely and professionally to reduce risks to oneself and fellow employees.
- Comply with federal, state, and company regulations.
- Process all paperwork associated with the job daily.
- Be available and willing to work; exceptions require management approval.
- Work in a positive, supportive, and cooperative manner.
- Perform other duties as directed or requested.
