About The Position

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, an international law firm, is actively recruiting a Docket Coordinator. This position works closely with other members of the Docket Department to maintain the Firm’s docket system in accordance with Firm policy. A Docket Coordinator must maintain accurate and current records for the Docket Department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three years’ job related experience required, including internships, preferably in a law firm, professional services, or other client relationship-based organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
  • Compliance with Firm in-office policy required.
  • Ability to generate a large volume of work and be capable of making sound decisions in the absence of clear instructions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Accurate typing, word processing skills and ability to pay strict attention to detail.
  • Spelling, punctuation and use of grammar must be of high quality.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Visual acuity needed for transcription, extensive reading and moderate or advanced keyboard usage.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to receive and convey detailed information through both written and oral communications.
  • Ability to lift, carry, reach, stoop or bend, at times repetitively, for tasks involving filing or movement of files/supplies weighing up to 5-10 pounds.
  • Essential competency processes include language ability, reasoning and memory.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility regarding work assignments to work overtime on short notice required.
  • Ability to work in a cooperative manner as a member of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Follows the ethical requirements set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the State in which employed.
  • Intermediate knowledge and application of County, State and U.S. District Court rules and regulations. Stays abreast of current rule changes and informs Team of same.
  • Maintains civil, appellate and bankruptcy databases (docket system).
  • Receives and reviews documents (correspondence, e-mails, forms, pleadings, etc.) submitted to the Docket Department for processing; determines method of service; utilizes CompuLaw Vision and its incorporated rule sets to automatically calculate due dates, deadlines and/or events in accordance with the appropriate rules; manually modifies docket event descriptions as requested and/or required; manually overrides resulting due dates, deadlines and/or events as necessary.
  • Performs quality control checks and balances; and has accountability for accuracy of docket events processed. Maintains accurate and current records for all matters in each of the domestic offices to which he/she is assigned.
