The Dock Worker properly loads and unloads freight using a forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, or by hand; secures freight with straps, braces, and padding to prevent damage or shifting; and accurately records the condition of freight upon arrival at the service center. The role includes pre-shift and post-shift inspections of dock equipment, and regular attendance is required. This is not an all-inclusive list of duties; operational, safety, and other needs may require the employee to perform other assigned tasks. Employees are expected to be able to perform those duties and tasks. The position requires the ability to work all shifts, including overtime and weekends, and to work reliably in a high-volume environment with tight time constraints and multiple priorities. The employee may work independently or as part of a team and must interact well with others. The role requires reading, interpreting, and complying with written safety rules, operating and procedure manuals, and maintenance instructions, as well as meeting deadlines. The job involves frequent lifting and moving of at least 70 pounds, along with standing, walking, handling and reaching, lifting, twisting, turning, and other physical activities. The work environment may include moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, high or precarious places, hazardous materials, and varying weather conditions. Noise levels range from quiet to loud. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
