Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Dockworker to support safe and efficient freight loading, unloading, and warehouse material-handling operations. The role uses motorized forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual techniques to move freight, ensure correct placement on trailers, and help deliver customer freight accurately and on time. Freight must be secured with appropriate materials and tools to prevent damage. Safety, teamwork, accuracy, and meeting customer pickup and delivery schedules are central to the position. The position involves working throughout a service center, monitoring freight locations with a Dock Yard Management System, reading shipping labels and freight documents, and using a handheld tablet when needed. Work is fast-paced and deadline-oriented, with frequent interaction with service center personnel. The job may involve a variety of schedules and shifts; the posted working days are Monday through Friday, while shift and hours are to be determined and schedules may change based on business needs. The work includes prolonged standing, walking, sitting on a forklift, frequent bending and squatting, climbing on and off equipment, reaching, pushing and pulling freight, and frequent lifting and handling of objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Employees may work in hot or cold climates, around noise and odors, in enclosed vehicles or trailers, and in varying weather and lighting conditions.
