About The Position

The Dock Material Handler is responsible for monitoring and maintaining safety, quality, and productivity within the Shipping department. This role involves effective communication with supervisors and team members, managing materials in packing, staging, and storage areas, and ensuring the efficient flow of materials to and from packing lines. The position also requires completing production and quality checks, adhering to company policies, and handling materials on cantilever racks. Loading and unloading trucks is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • Must also pass a skills-based test.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work efficiently and effectively; self-motivated; self-starter.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be conscientious, diplomatic, and detail oriented.
  • Must pass a company background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain safety (including housekeeping), quality, and productivity
  • Communicate information with Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Team Members
  • Remove packed bundles/ racks/ containers/ etc. from packing area and place them in stage/ storage areas as needed
  • Monitor/ maintain packed material stage/ storage areas
  • Feed the un-rack/ pack line with racks/ containers/ etc. as needed
  • Maintain empty rack supplies in rack storage areas
  • Stack packed material for shipping
  • Help load and unload trucks as needed
  • Complete production, quality, and equipment checks (document when required)
  • Know, understand, and demonstrate company policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Remove packed bundles/ racks/ containers/ etc. from packing area that need put onto cantilevers
  • Put up or take down material from cantilever racks (raw and/or finished)
  • Stock and/or pull material on cantilever racks (responsible/ accountable for accuracy within the stock program)
  • Arrange overflow and get racks/ containers ready for Inspect/ Pack Team Members
  • Monitor and maintain scrap rack levels
