Dock Door Technician
About The Position
The Dock Door Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining dock levelers, loading dock equipment, and commercial overhead doors. This role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, diagnosing equipment failures, and implementing effective repairs. The technician will service door operators, springs, tracks, rollers, hinges, and safety devices, as well as maintain dock shelters, seals, vehicle restraints, and related loading dock components. The position requires completing work orders and preventive maintenance tasks in a timely manner, responding to emergency service requests, and utilizing various tools and maintenance software. Adherence to all company safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and applicable regulations is crucial. Accurate maintenance records and documentation must be maintained, and effective communication with operations, facility teams, and vendors regarding equipment status and repairs is expected.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of industrial, manufacturing, facilities, or mechanical maintenance experience.
- Mechanical aptitude with experience troubleshooting equipment.
- Experience working with hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and equipment documentation.
- Ability to safely use ladders, hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent safety awareness and attention to detail.
- Dependable, customer-focused, and team-oriented mindset.
Nice To Haves
- Experience servicing dock levelers, overhead doors, or loading dock equipment.
- Industrial maintenance certification, trade school training, or apprenticeship experience.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience with conveyor systems, material handling equipment, or facility maintenance.
