About The Position

Adjunct faculty will work under the supervision of the academic administrator or the academic faculty of the course. The adjunct faculty will have duties and responsibilities expected of regular full-time faculty members in the unit. The DNP Faculty Member will teach graduate-level courses, mentor DNP students, and engage in scholarly activities. The ideal candidate is a DNP-prepared, nationally board-certified FNP or AGPCNP with at least two years of teaching experience in a DNP program, preferably online. They should have a student-focused approach, professional expertise in clinical practice, and experience leading or participating in DNP projects.

Requirements

  • Accredited DNP degree from an institution is required.
  • Unencumbered RN license is required.
  • At least two years of teaching in a DNP program, preferably online.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Proficiency in online teaching platforms and educational technologies is required.
  • Constructive feedback and mentoring to students.
  • Commitment to student success, professional growth, and academic excellence.
  • Collaboration with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Current, active, and unencucumbered RN and/or Nurse Practitioner licensure.

Nice To Haves

  • Board certification as an FNP or AGPCNP is preferred.
  • Expertise in primary or family care nursing is recommended.
  • Experience as a Chair or Member of DNP scholarly projects is highly desirable.
  • Accredited DNP faculty experience.
  • DNP project oversight, including student mentoring highly desirable.
  • Active scholarly research or practice-based inquiry recommended.
  • Certification as an FNP or AGPCNP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate quality learning experiences that provide a risk-free environment for student learners that reinforce critical thinking and decision making and opportunities to enhance caring behaviors towards peers and patients.
  • Enhance student’s ability to promote patient safety and quality health care, and clinical competence through selected critical thinking scenarios.
  • Improve performance, communication, and efficiency in clinical setting.
  • Promote evidence-based decision making for professional practice, empowerment of the student in preparation for the clinical setting.
  • Facilitate debriefing and positive feedback to enhance student learning.
  • Encourage students to self-analyze their performance and use critical thinking during the reflection process.
  • Teach graduate-level DNP courses, delivering high-quality online instruction, mentoring students, leading/participating in DNP projects, and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  • Ensure DNP Quality Improvement (QI) projects meet academic standards, are clinically relevant, impactful, and evidence-based.
  • Contribute to curriculum development by incorporating current healthcare trends, advanced nursing practice, and educational technologies.
  • Collaborate with faculty leadership to develop course content and evaluation methods.
  • Participate in accreditation to ensure the program meets standards (if applicable).
  • Engage in scholarly activities like research, publications, and presentations to advance nursing practice and education.
  • Contribute to the nursing profession through service activities in academic, professional, and clinical settings.
  • Maintain current knowledge in nursing practice, health policy, and educational strategies.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and institutional activities.
  • Contribute to program-level strategies for student success, retention, and graduation.
